Coming in hot with some huge news, Territory fam! After an incredibly thoughtful and deep search, we’ve found the perfect match to steer our ship. We’re thrilled to introduce you to our brand new CEO, Abby Coleman.

Abby brings with her a wealth of experience in the world of wellness.

She’s a heavy hitter with companies like Amazon and Kraft on her resume and degrees from Yale and NYU. She also knows her way around the startup world, most recently leading a company in the healthcare space. She’s passionate about food, the power of nutrition, and has exactly the experience and skillset to take Territory to the new heights.

We wanted to give Abby a chance to introduce herself to the folks at the heart of Territory – our incredible community of intentional eaters.

Without further ado … Territory fam, meet Abby.

WHAT WERE YOU UP TO BEFORE YOU JOINED THE TERRITORY TEAM?

I have been working in food and ecommerce at places like Kraft, Mondelez, Amazon, and a few small start ups. I’ve been lucky enough to have had a lot of cool jobs in a lot of cool places (like Shanghai), and to have seen a lot of great ideas around the world.

WHAT MADE YOU SAY YES TO THIS OPPORTUNITY? WHAT EXCITES YOU MOST ABOUT TERRITORY?

I believe in the power of food, and Territory is founded on the idea that if you can help people eat better, they can realize their full potential. It’s awesome to get to positively impact people’s lives on a daily basis.

WHAT’S YOUR PERSONAL PHILOSOPHY AROUND FOOD?

More than any specific philosophy, I believe it’s critically important for people to discover the foods that work best for their bodies. Personally – I’m a vegetarian and have been since I was 12, and I try to eat as much local, organic and unprocessed food as I can.

WHEN YOU AREN’T THINKING ABOUT CHANGING THE WORLD THROUGH FOOD, WHERE CAN WE CAN FIND YOU? ANY COOL HOBBIES?

I enjoy food for pleasure, too! I love to cook and throw dinner parties. Since having kids, dinner parties at my house look a lot different – the food is less fancy, more interactive, more kid friendly – but I think I’m able to enjoy the company more because I’m not off creating multi-course plated meals in the kitchen. Other than that, I am raising two amazing daughters, which takes just about all the time left in the day!

WHAT ARE YOU LISTENING TO THESE DAYS?

I love podcasts, they keep me company while commuting or on long runs. I enjoy a balance of learning based and human interest podcasts. Two of my favorites are The Knowledge Project and Radio Lab. Occasionally I’m researching a topic and will use podcasts to hear experts or thought leaders on certain subjects. A few months back, I listened to a bunch of parenting podcasts to get different ideas on bedtime routines when my daughter was going through a phase.

AND TO WRAP UP, WHERE DO YOU SEE THE TERRITORY COMMUNITY IN 5 YEARS?

I believe Territory is showing the way forward in personalized nutrition on a big scale. In 5 years, our community will be even greater in size, but we will continue to have the incredible, one-on-one relationship with each customer that allows us to create meals that are the perfect fit to their nutritional needs.
